Just jesting about JEST and justice…
Well, yeah.. that's what AamzillaA is going to do now..
Just jesting about JEST(Joint Entrance Screening Test) and justice…Its 4:00 am in the morning and my mind feels blank.. Not yet decided
what to study today.. Went to kitchen, made myself a cup of black
coffee, and started reading yesterday's newspaper and it was then I
saw this news about "JEST". It was for the first time in my life I was
hearing about this exam, so just thought I'd scribble about it here,
since right now I am not in the mood to study anything or to do
anything productive.
JEST is yet another exam like GATE, which if u score well, gives you
admission for Phd\Integrated MSc-PhD programs in Physics and
Theoretical Computer Science. The qualification is B-tech degree in
any discipline. The last date to apply is December 31,2007 and the
date of the exam is Feb 17,2007. Any friends visiting this blog,

May be same time next year, I might have acquired enough knowledge in
Computer Science to think about at least appearing for JEST, or for
the entrance test conducted by TIFR. I guess, the last date for
applying to the TIFR , PhD entrance test is over. If I remember
correctly, I think the exam is on the December 10th, 2007. May be, if
everything goes wrong in GATE, and if I find myself not doing M-tech
in any good institution, I should think about preparing for TIFR PhD
entrance test next year.
Or should I try to get a job ? I have this dream of devoting my entire
life learning computer science, but with out money nothing is
possible. With out money, you won't be able to live your dream of
exploring the wonderful world of computer science at your own pace,
for the rest of your life. But to earn money, you should trade your
time and efforts and at times will also be forced to do things that
might hamper the realization of your long term goals.
The irony is that to give yourself a better chance of realizing your
ambition in life and in realizing the true happiness of your life, you
spend most of your life doing things that takes you further away from
your ambition and which in turn diminishes the chances of realizing
your ambition. I really don't know how to get out of this "dead-lock"
.
This pathetic situation in which I find myself ,where if I decide go
for an M-tech or PhD in computer science, I should also decide to live
in poverty since the stipend I get then would be less than what a
fish-seller might earn in a month, is mainly due to the evil policies
of the politicians who are ruling us for the past 60 years !!!
Politicians who rule us would be either stupid or evil!!!
Its not the vote-bank politics of politicians of various parties, but
it is the companies like Infosys, Wipro,TCS,Reliance and many
more like them , that created wealth and more opportunities for
everyone in this country. And its people like you and me, the
educated, young intelligent youth of India who made these companies
successful and which in-turn gave India the self esteem that it enjoys
today.
But what does the politician do ? The politician makes laws so that
like an under world Don, he can extract huge sums of money from people
as taxes. The politician tells us to work hard, and to give him money
in the form of taxes which we have earned through our years of hard
work. If we don't pay, the politician who rules us could ruin our
future or could put us in prison. We can't protest because it is not
us but the politician who makes the laws that govern us.
We are forced to pay heavy taxes, just for the right to work hard and
make money. We pay the taxes every year and work hard so that the
politician can rob us every year and can use our money, not for our
welfare but to satisfy his needs and to expand the political base of
his party. He uses our money to get more votes for himself and his
party. He uses our money so that he can get himself elected again and
again and can continue to exploit us till we die. Will this great
exploitation of the best people in the country ever stop ? Will our
country ever become a great nation , as long as the political class
continues to exploit the best among the population.
It is the best minds in this country, who are capable of creating
wealth through innovation and are thus capable of raising the living
standards of millions of uneducated people in India. As long as the
evil politician continues to butcher the best minds can the poor in
this country ever hope to actually have better life in their lifetime?
